I have been so excited to share with you this mini-podcast series of episodes I lovingly call ‘Start-up with Style’. Candid interviews with wellness entrepreneurs who are in their start-up phase and are telling their start-up story as it happens. We rarely get to hear these stories – it’s usually successful entrepreneurs looking back through biased glasses at their early days of business. So, enjoy the generosity and honesty with which my guests open up!
Sharon Selby is a mum, wife and creator of Beat The Treats, a health coaching business that assists and inspires women to ‘ditch the junk and live deliciously.’ Thanks to her transformational journey overcoming dependency on prescribed daily medications for asthma, allergies, migraines and fatigue through diet change alone Sharon quit her corporate career of 15 years and studied at The Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Now as a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, Sharon coaches clients locally and overseas to achieve their wellness goals and life’s ambitions. Sharon developes recipes for publications, writes articles on healthy living and hosts retreats and corporate wellness programmes and collaborates on projects with people who are just as passionate about healthy living. Sharon is also an active committee member of The MINDD Foundation, a non-profit Health Promotion Trust run by a team of patients, medical doctors and health care professionals.
Sharon shares her start-up journey after graduating from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition as a health coach. We talk about:
- branding and how you are the best example of your own brand (especially if you’re a health coach!)
- the ongoing fears we all struggle with as health coaches
- how sometimes having supportive partners isn’t always as good as it sounds!
- How startup can throw us into being different from how we used to be in our day jobs!
